IN VOGUE’S WORDS: “THE PARTY OF THE YEAR”
I know, I know. So predictable to compile a best dressed list from perhaps the biggest and most enduring fashion event of the year, right? Well actually, it would be a disgrace not to mention and honour those who were impeccably dressed for me. Now, you should know that aside from some personalities looking too alluring for words, the long-awaited “Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations” exhibition is finally open for visitors at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. They could not have chosen women with more different views on fashion, yet the two are bound to be compared, and therefore inevitably linked. While Schiaparelli claimed that fashion is indeed “art”, her counterpart Miuccia strongly believes the opposite. But we can’t help but put Ms. Prada in the visionary category (her collections speak for themselves. No other brand has had such consistency of strong statements for over a decade). A must-see exhibit for anyone who is either curious or passionate about clothes.
As for my best dressed list, I know most of you will feel I’ve left out many. But truth be told, these are my ‘coup de coeur’ as we say in French. However I must admit that I was anxiously waiting for photos of two style mavens to surface; I would have no such luck! Um, Kate? Daphne? Oh well, we’ll always have next year. You two were greatly missed!
